To request Rapid Response presence in your location to help you exercise your rights, call the Wenatchee for Immigrant Justice hotline at 509-761-9187. For support after a detention, call 509-214-0223.
If you haven’t already gotten involved with volunteering for Wenatchee for Immigrant Justice, please do so! The more people in town who are trained, the more effective the Rapid Response team will be.
You can see WIJ’s upcoming volunteer opportunities and trainings here.
If you would like to do more to help our community protect ourselves against ICE, please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the Whistles 101 documents on the WA Whistles linktree! Wenatchee Whistles is working on preparing whistle kits, and whistles are starting to be distributed in our community.
If you hear a whistle, it may mean that ICE is nearby. You can choose to either 1) get yourself to safety, or 2) go towards the whistle to help.
The whistle code has two patterns:
- If you see ICE driving or lurking, blow your whistle intermittently (PREE (pause pause) PREE (pause pause) PREE (pause pause) PREE (pause pause))
- If you see ICE attempting to grab someone, blow your whistle continuously (PREEEEEEEE PREEEEEEEEE PREEEEEEEE)
Those are the basics! Again, consult the linktree for more information and up to date resources.
