Wenatchee for Palestine endorses the grassroots boycott of East Wenatchee
We at Wenatchee for Palestine want to express our full-throated support for this bold effort to directly fight encroaching fascism here in our own cities.
This is about far more than Pride flag banners. The stakes are far greater. If we do not push back now, they will take away more and more until we have lost all of our rights.
WE WILL NOT SIT IDLY BY.
If the city of East Wenatchee cares so much about sales tax revenue, we will show them that they stand to lose a lot more by siding with fascists than they stand to gain!
History has shown us the power of a boycott. The Shell boycott contributed to ending apartheid in South Africa, becoming the model for the BDS movement’s Chevron boycott. And the Montgomery bus boycott demonstrated just how impactful a hyper-local boycott campaign can be, with ramifications that stretched far beyond one city.
We believe that what we do right here in the Wenatchee Valley matters. And we believe that every single queer person matters, and that standing up for them matters more than profits, more than getting to enjoy all of your favorite luxuries, more than the convenience of going to the nearest big store.
We believe, with our whole hearts, in the bravery, strength, and fortitude of Wenatchee and East Wenatchee residents. We applaud the courage of every community member who stands in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community and proudly displays a Pride flag. That is the East Wenatchee that we love, and that is the East Wenatchee that we want to support.
We all have to stand up for the most vulnerable in our communities. None of us are free until all of us are free.

Wenatchee por Palestina manifesta su apoyo para el boicot de East Wenatchee
Wenatchee por Palestina por este medio manifiesta nuestro apoyo completo al esfuerzo audaz de resistencia contra el fascismo creciente en nuestras ciudades.
Esto se trata de much más que unas banderas de Orgullo. Las consecuencias son much más graves. Si no nos resistimos ahora, nos quitarán más y más hasta que hayamos perdido todos nuestros derechos.
NO DEJAREMOS LA LUCHA.
Si la ciudad se East Wenatchee tanto aprecia sus ingresos del impuesto de venta, mostraremos que podrán perder mucho más al tomar el lado de los fascista.
La historia nos ha mostrado el poder del boicot. El boicot de Shell contribuyó a la victoria control el apartheid en Sudáfrica, y se ha convertido en un modelo para el boicot actual de Chevron impulsado por el movimiento BDS de la gente palestina. Además, el boicot de los buses de Montgomery, Alabama durante los años 60 nos muestra que tan exitosa puede ser una campaña de boicot híper local, ya que tuvo consecuencias mucho más allá de esa ciudad.
Creemos que lo que hacemos aquí en el valle de Wenatchee tiene importancia. También creemos que todas las personas queer importan, y que manifestar nuestro apoyo para ellos es más importante que las ganancias, que disfrutar de los lujos preferidos, que la conveniencia se poder ir a la tienda grande más cercana.
Creemos con todo el corazón en el coraje, fortaleza, y persistencia de las personas residentes de East Wenatchee y Wenatchee. Aplaudimos el coraje de cada miembro de la comunidad que muestre su apoyo a la comunidad LGBTQ+ y cuelga con orgullo una bandera arcoíris. Eso representa el East Wenatchee que tanto amamos y que queremos apoyar.
Cada uno tiene que apoyar las personas más vulnerables de nuestra comunidad. Nadie está libre hasta que todes estemos libres.
